Teaching tone got you tongue-tied? Teaching mood got you melancholy? Hack tone and mood for emergent bilinguals in a language they understand: emojis! 😀 In this session, you will learn how to support emergent bilinguals' comprehension of tone and mood in literary fiction, nonfiction, and poetry through the use of emojis. Not only are emojis a universal language, emojis can help emergent bilingual learners to recognize patterns of mood and tone in a text and utilize these patterns to successfully answer assessment questions. Join us in crying while we laugh 😂 as we hack tone and mood for our emergent bilinguals.
