2024 Literacy Connects Us to the World

Writing has often been the deprioritized afterthought in non-tested grade levels, and that’s led to a major problem of practice: Unused skills around writing instruction leading to a lack of teacher confidence in the subject matter. With 60% of ELA standards focused on Writing & Language, it’s surprising that writing doesn’t happen more in the classroom. STAAR’s recent redesign has brought writing development back to the forefront, and this session will cover some of the research-based practices that can help move the needle on student performance, strong writing instruction, and overall volume of writing tasks.
